When You're Too Sleepy to Think, but Too Passionate to Stop
If you build websites like I do, you know the feeling well. You hit a wall. Something isn't working, you can't figure it out, your brain is slowing down like an old computer with too many tabs open -- but somehow, you refuse to shut down for the night. Passion becomes a caffeine stronger than anything you can drink.
Because I decided a long time ago that I didn't want to use WordPress to build my own websites, I ended up creating my own content management system from scratch. And that, my friend, made me the chief cook and bottle washer of the entire operation. When something breaks, guess who has to fix it? When a feature refuses to work at 2 AM, guess who's still sitting there trying to debug it? Exactly. The boss and the worker are the same person -- me.
So you sit there, tired but determined, telling yourself, "Let me just fix this one line of code," or "Let me tweak this last piece before I sleep."
Most of the time, I don't figure it out that night.
Most of the time, I eventually crash.
And most of the time -- this is the funny part -- I wake up the next morning, open my laptop, look at the same problem... and solve it in five minutes.
But the way I feel the next morning?
Sometimes it's like I was drugged the night before.
My body is here, but my brain is still trying to reboot.
Yet here's the truth: I wouldn't trade that feeling.
Because that's what passion does.
It pulls you into a zone where time doesn't matter and sleep feels optional.
You're building something that means something to you.
You're creating. You're improving. You're in the fight.
It's not always healthy -- let's be honest -- but it's real.
And if you've ever gone to bed exhausted but proud, you understand.
Working with passion is a blessing and a curse.
But it's also a reminder:
When something keeps you awake at night, that's a sign you're working on what you were meant to build.
