The Walk That Helped Me Find Myself Again (Rediscovering Yourself)
I booked an Airbnb in the Dominican Republic for a full month. No plan. No schedule. Just me.
At first, I thought I was running away. But looking back, I realize I was running toward something -- even if I didn't know what it was yet.
Every day, I walked.
Morning, afternoon, night.
I walked until my feet hurt, because somehow walking was the only thing that made me feel better. I didn't talk much, didn't post anything, didn't try to "figure it out." I just let the road, the air, and the silence do their work.
Did I find myself that month? Maybe not completely.
But I found a piece of me -- the one that believed healing could start with something as simple as putting one foot in front of the other.
That was the beginning. The quiet start of rediscovery.
Sometimes you don't need a new plan, or a big breakthrough.
You just need movement -- even slow, painful, uncertain movement -- to remind yourself that life goes on, and so do you.
This reflection first appeared in my Book Try Not to Die After You've Made: How I Almost Lost Myself After Chasing Everything I Wanted, book #2 of my Ti Koze Book book series, now available on Amazon
Part of the Rediscovering Yourself series on ReadItOnMyBlog -- stories about finding your way back to who you really are.
