6.6 million U.S. workers apply for unemployment in a single week due to COVID-19

More than 6.6 million Americans apply for unemployment benefits last week due to massive layoffs that resulted from the covid-19 pandemic. These are the latest government figures.

The US Labor Department is overwhelmed with the quantity of unemployment claims that are coming in and this is just the beginning.

3.3 million Americans filed for unemployment claims in one week alone. The following week the figure doubled. 6.6 million more apply for unemployment bringing the total to close to 10 million in only 2 weeks because of the Coronavirus pandemic.
