The 50s Checkup: What Every Man Should Do Before the Doctor Visit
Before you head to that appointment, stop and ask yourself: Is anything different?
Maybe you've noticed that you don't sleep as well as you used to.
Or you're going to the bathroom more often at night.
Maybe you feel more tired in the afternoon, or your digestion isn't what it once was.
These little changes can be easy to dismiss, but they could also be early signs of something worth checking out.
Take five minutes -- literally five -- and make a short list.
Any symptoms, even if they seem unrelated
- Questions you've had but kept putting off
- Any new over-the-counter pills or vitamins you've started taking
- What your energy, sleep, or appetite have been like lately
Also, bring a list of any prescriptions, supplements, or herbal remedies you're using. Even if it seems like "just something natural," your doctor needs to know.
As men, we often minimize, forget, or brush things off. But showing up prepared makes a huge difference -- not just for your peace of mind, but for the doctor who's trying to help you stay well.
You don't want to leave and suddenly remember the thing you meant to ask.
Being ready is a small act that says: I value my health.
And in your 50s, that mindset shift is everything.
You're not old, but you're no longer invincible either. So take the reins. Start showing up for yourself -- starting with your next checkup.
