JW Marriott and Colts Pride Shape the Indianapolis Skyline

August 16, 2025 - Driving through downtown Indianapolis, it's hard to miss the way the skyline tells its own story. Rising above the city streets, the JW Marriott stands tall with its shimmering blue glass and unmistakable curve. Every season, this hotel transforms into something more than just part of the skyline--it becomes a canvas of pride for the city's NFL team, the Indianapolis Colts.
In this view from Senate Avenue, the JW Marriott dominates the horizon, wrapped in a giant banner featuring Colts players and the bold words: "For the City. For the Boss. For the Shoe." It's a reminder that football here isn't just a game; it's a piece of Indianapolis identity woven right into the architecture.
If like me you are new to Indianapolis, what I can tell you is:
This is part of the Colts' annual building wrap campaign on the JW Marriott before each season.
It usually features a few of the team's top players--often stars or leaders chosen to represent the team that year.
The slogan on the banner: "For the City. For the Boss. For the Shoe." is tied to Lucas Oil Stadium (nicknamed The Shoe) and the team's fanbase identity.
What makes it striking is how the building itself mirrors the city's spirit--modern, ambitious, and rooted in community pride.
Whether you're a sports fan or just passing through, you can't help but notice how the Colts' presence becomes part of the skyline, blending sports culture with city life in a way few places manage.
Are you a Colts fan reading this? I would love to hear your opinion about the team itself, the players featured on this banner and anything you can tell us outsiders about your team and your city.
