Have you ever gone hunting for an app--maybe even paid for one--only to realize later that your phone could already do the same thing for free? That's exactly what happened to me.
I've been using Android for years, and recently I needed to make some picture collages for my blogs. I went looking for the perfect app, even using one called Pic Stitch for quite a while. What I didn't know was that the Gallery app--yes, the one that comes with every Android phone--can do the exact same thing. The option isn't obvious, so unless you stumble upon it, you might never know it's there.
Here's how it works:
1. Open the Gallery app and find the pictures you want to use.
2. Select your photos--you can choose up to six.
3. Tap "Create" at the bottom of the screen.
4. Scroll to the last option and select "Collage."
5. On the next screen, choose your collage style, image size, and even the frame's color and thickness.
That's it! No ads, no extra downloads, no complicated steps.
This image below was also made using the Android phones native gallery app.

So as you can see, you can do some pretty decent collages using the gallery app without having to download any extra apps which you often have to pay for.
I wrote this down partly to remind myself, and partly to share with anyone else who's been searching for a separate collage app. Next time someone asks me how to make a collage on Android, I can just say: "Go read it on my blog."
