Cashback at the register - I never knew there was a fee for getting cashback after a purchase
All these years I have been withdrawing money as cashback at the register and I never knew that I was being charged for it.
Do you know how many times I walk into a store and buy a pack of gum just to get cashback thinking I am saving money?
I thought the transaction was free until I purchased a pack of pens at the dollar store that I realized:
"Why is it $2.50 cents?"
"Isn't it supposed to be $1.25?"
And that's when the cashier at Dollar Tree told me: "Cashback! You are being charged at a $1.25 extra for cash back."
"What do you mean a $25 for cashback? isn't it free when you get cash back at the register? I mean you're taking money out of my account anyway."
"No, it wasn't free it's never been free, the cashier told me."
We never look at the receipts when we pay for something, and we do not realize what we are being charged for.
imagine I am a couple of minutes away from the bank but I was too lazy to stop at the ATM so I said you know what what is the maximum that you guys allow for cashback she said $50 I needed $60 so after I made my initial purchase for $50 I went back into the store-bought a pack of pens so that I can get the other $10
So that's when I realized that in total I paid $2.50 terminal fee for the cash back
Funny the bank is right down the street.
Had I known I was being charged on a terminal fee, I would have never done it.
So now, I think back all these years that I have been taking money out of CVS and Walgreens by just buying like a York Pepermint Pattie thinking I'm not getting charged for it.
Big mistake!
Now I know why in some stores the maximum for cashback is like $20 or $40. It is because every time you take out that amount of money they are charging you for it.
